CANON U.S.A. ACQUIRES VIRTUAL IMAGING, INC.
Friday 03. April 2009 - Acquisition of Florida-Based Diagnostic Imaging Solutions Provider Adds to Canon's Portfolio of Offerings for the Medical Community
Expanding its capabilities to deliver complete medical imaging and healthcare solutions, Canon U.S.A., Inc., a leader in digital imaging, today announced that the Company has acquired Virtual Imaging, Inc., of Deerfield Beach, Florida.
Established in 1995, the Florida-based Virtual Imaging is a leading provider of diagnostic imaging solutions and a medical systems integrator. With more than 100 employees, including a national sales and service organization, Virtual Imaging serves large complex hospital organizations, imaging centers and private physician offices, and is the national distributor of Canon’s award-winning Digital Radiography (DR) Systems.
“Canon and Virtual Imaging have had a long-standing relationship that has benefited both companies over the years. This acquisition will position Canon well for future growth in the medical imaging and healthcare marketplace,” said Joe Adachi, president and chief executive officer, Canon U.S.A. “Having Virtual Imaging join the Canon family will allow us to better offer a comprehensive line of cost-effective Canon certified medical imaging solutions and services that can be fully integrated into an organization’s workflow and improve patient throughput.”

Since 1997, Canon Medical Systems, a division of Canon U.S.A., Inc., has introduced nine generations of flat panel sensors (the Canon CXDI-11/22, Canon CXDI-31, Canon CXDI-40G, Canon CXDI-50G, Canon CXDI-40C, Canon CXDI-40EG, the Canon CXDI-50C, the Canon CXDI-40EC flat panel sensors and the Canon CXDI-60G), offering a full range of DR system solutions for various applications.
Canon U.S.A. has installed more than 3,500 DR sensor panels throughout Canada, the United States and Latin America, part of more than 8,000 DR systems that have been installed worldwide by the Canon family of companies.
