with high quality, low cost-per-page short-run color printingPresstek, Inc., a leading manufacturer and marketer of digital offset printing solutions, today announced it will be showing its Presstek 52DI digital offset press at the upcoming Poligrafia 09, Poland’s premier printing and graphics expo scheduled for April 21-24, in Poznan. The Presstek 52DI press is the most environmentally friendly offset presses in the marketplace and will be featured by Presstek on booth 32 in Hall 5.

“Print service providers are looking for solutions that are flexible enough to address to a wide range of applications, while also ensuring improved profitability, quick turnaround and high quality,” said Guy Sasson, Presstek President Europe, Africa and Middle East Region. “The Presstek 52DI press provides one of the lowest costs per page for quantities of 500 to 20,000—profitably filling the economical gap between toner-based devices and conventional offset. Also critical to the Eastern European market are the environmental credentials of this press; its on-press chemistry-free platemaking, waterless printing and dramatic reduction of overall waste.”

The Presstek 52DI Digital Offset Press at Poligrafia 09:
Demonstrations of Presstek’s highly automated 52DI landscape press are a “must-see” at the show for both conventional offset and digital printers who are looking for a faster and more profitable way to produce environmentally friendly, high-quality, short-run color printing. A 2008 InfoTrends, Inc. study, Presstek DI Printing Study: Bridging the Gap Between Digital Toner and Conventional Offset surveyed DI press owners from around the world and found that DI users are growing their print revenue and profit margins as a result of their Presstek DI presses. The survey concludes: “These print providers indicated that Presstek DI presses are well-positioned between toner and conventional technologies, satisfying customer requirements in the 500 to 20,000 run length range with increased print quality, faster turnaround time, a wider range of substrates, and a lower price per page.”

The Presstek 52DI landscape digital offset press operates at a print speed of up to 10,000 impressions per hour with a maximum sheet size of 520 x 375 mm (20,000 A4 pages per hour). The combination of Presstek 52DI’s waterless printing and on-press chemistry-free platemaking translates into higher quality and significantly less overall waste than conventional printing processes. On-press imaging ensures precise registration and fast run-up. The DI’s ability to go from file to sellable color within 20 sheets provides fast turnaround with less makeready waste. Presstek DI digital offset presses expands capabilities with its ability to print on a wide range of substrates; from 0.06 mm to 0.5 mm thick. High quality is achieved with up to 300 lpi (120 l/cm) printing, as well as stochastic (FM) screening, without incurring additional time or expense.

Presstek Chemistry-free Aurora Pro Plates
At the show Presstek will present their chemistry-free range of plates. The Aurora Pro provides a true chemistry-free plate that can be imaged on a range of thermal platesetters, including Presstek’s new Compass Series and Dimension Pro 800 platesetters, and several models distributed by Screen and Kodak (Creo). Aurora Pro’s fast, efficient imaging allows qualified thermal CTP systems to run at maximum throughput. Aurora Pro is a daylight-safe plate that requires only a simple water wash after imaging. No chemistry, no baking and no gumming are required. Aurora Pro outputs resolution of 1% to 99% dots at 200 lpi (80 l/cm) and stochastic (FM) screening is easily handled. Once imaged and washed the plate displays a high contrast image that can be examined and measured—providing significant cost savings by making error correction possible before going on press.

Aurora Pro’s grained anodized aluminum surface provides excellent ink/water balance properties for superior pressroom performance, including fast roll-up performance for reduced makeready time and reduced waste. The plate is rated for run lengths of 25,000 impressions and is suitable for a wide range of short run commercial printing applications. In addition, Aurora Pro plates have a strong resistance to UV inks and solvents, resulting in the ability to use a single plate for both conventional and UV printing.
