FESPA Digital 2009 Will Be Hub For Wide Format Learning

Friday 06. March 2009 - Valuable learning opportunities available every hour over three-day event

FESPA Digital 2009 (RAI Exhibition Centre, Amsterdam, 12- 14 May) will provide visitors with an unprecedented programme of knowledge-sharing initiatives to inspire and help printers reach their business goals in challenging economic conditions.

FESPA has focussed on maximising the learning opportunities that visitors can access at FESPA Digital 2009. FESPA’s popular Digital Innovations Showcase Theatre programme spans the three-day exhibition, comprising 18 free-of-charge sessions hosted by world-leading authorities from print and associated industries.

The Showcase Theatre seminars are highly relevant to the current economic climate, including topics such as Winning Business in the Credit Crunch hosted by FESPA managing director Frazer Chesterman. Other topical sessions provided by companies such as Durst, EFI, Epson, ESKO Graphics, Mutoh and Robert Horne Group will include: maximising profit with inkjet; interweaving print technology; the practical aspects of operating UV inkjet printers and; the differences between digital and traditional printing. Paul Machin, specialist advisor on best practices to the EU Environmental Agency and co-author of FESPA’s own Planet Friendly Guide will also lead a dedicated session on environmentally sustainable printing.

For the first time at FESPA Digital 2009, FESPA’s own stand (Stand E90, Hall 5) will provide an additional stage for industry learning, with interactive lunchtime debates and interviews with key digital print figures and ‘revolutionaries’. Issues and challenges currently faced by printers in the wide format arena will be discussed on the stand and visitors will have the chance to engage in debate with industry leaders on these topics.

FESPA’s second Digital Textile Conference, entitled ‘Rising Above the World Recession’ will help printers increase their knowledge of the digital textile sector and give them strategies to effectively deal with challenging economic conditions. Covering both commercial and technical topics, the conference’s 13 sessions, taking place over two days (12th and 13th May, RAI Exhibition Centre), will examine trends and market opportunities. Delegates will have the chance to hear a number of digital textile printing authorities examine a range of issues, including the progress of digital textile printing, the comparative advantages of direct and transfer printing, and the environmental impact of different inks used in digital textile printing, providing attendees with valuable insight into the sector (Note to editors: see separate release).

FESPA managing director Frazer Chesterman comments: “Revolutions start with the sharing of ideas, exchanging viewpoints with peers, discussing and debating topical issues. FESPA’s Digital exhibitions are an ideal platform to do this, contributing immeasurably to the forward movement of the industry. In the spirit of ‘Revolution’, we have created a rich learning programme at FESPA Digital 2009. Every hour of every day at the show, there is an opportunity to learn or be inspired. Whether or not the visitor is ready to invest in digital, this priceless concentration of knowledge-sharing initiatives can set printers on the path to succeed despite this difficult climate. No other wide format industry event offers this unique range for learning opportunities under one roof.”
