Protec launches In4Magazine, an innovative editorial solution exclusively for magazines
Monday 23. February 2009 - Protec, leader in the development of software for media companies, with more than 30 years experience in the sector, has launched a new and innovative editorial solution exclusively for magazine publishers, called In4Magazine. The product is the result of more than 3 years development and is already being used in the G+J group in Spain.
Protec is well known for its MILENIUM Cross Media applications, used by more than 350 companies in 18 different countries. With In4Magazine, Protec has broadened its range of solutions to offer magazine editors a corporate editorial solution that meets their specific needs.
“Magazine publishing groups are very dynamic organizations, whose publications often vary widely in terms of both content and how often they are published. This usually means the existence of very different newsrooms, with diverse needs and independent workflows”, states Andrés Checa, Protecs Marketing Director.
Checa continues, “this solution offers the publishing company a global coordination tool that, while respecting the creativity and flexibility of each publication, coordinates teamwork, facilitates editorial planning, centralises content management and editorial assets, introduces maximum efficiency into all preparation and production processes and offers the best business control tools. The success of magazines in the future hinges on their ability to improve efficiency and profitability, by empowering their main asset: imagination. And this is where In4Magazine wins compared to other solutions in the market.”
A modern and integrated application
In4Magazine is an application that aims for simplicity and costs savings. It integrates the newsroom, advertising and production to create synergies and common workflows, while always taking into account the specific nature of each magazine. Its flexibility allows each user to fix his workflows according to his needs. The net result is, without doubt, greater efficiency and an important saving in publication costs.
Its highly intuitive design makes it very easy to monitor the planning of news items in real time, to check each items progress whenever this is considered appropriate, to reserve advertising space, and so on. In addition, the fact that there is a centralised database makes it possible to go beyond the search limits and to consult the organisations entire range of documents, whatever their format.
As regards editing work, In4Magazine is very easy to use. The single user interface for all professionals, which can be adjusted to suit the philosophy of each company, simplifies tasks and helps optimise
resources. User management is also possible by assigning privileges and applying different levels. Finally, external collaborators are completely integrated into the editorial workflow, giving them the opportunity to monitor constantly the orders and reports that they have submitted.
In4Magazine integrates the latest technology offered by Adobe: Adobe CS3 and CS4, InDesign Server and Flex. It is compatible with any standard browser and both Macintosh and PC computers. It also supports the Oracle database, something that adds a great deal of consistency to the system. “We are very enthusiastic about our partners using Adobe technology to resolve their clients workflow needs. Protecs solution is innovative and offers an integrated and intuitive interface”, says Chris Kitchener, Adobe Systems Incorporated Product Manager.
In4Magazine is a modern and integrated tool that makes it possible for magazine groups and editors to facilitate the planning of editorial contents and to coordinate subsequent preparation work, as well as to optimize workflows in both the newsroom and production areas. It is undoubtedly the perfect application to assure magazines of success in the short-term future.
