CANON U.S.A. AND emFAST INC. SIGN MEAP LICENSING AGREEMENT FOR A NETWORK FAX SERVER SOLUTION

Wednesday 18. February 2009 - emFAST Inc. to Integrate Their FACSys Fax Messaging System with Canon imageRUNNER MFPs

Canon U.S.A., Inc., a leader in digital imaging and office solutions, and emFAST Inc., a pioneer in network fax messaging, today announced the integration of emFAST’s FACSys Fax Messaging Gateway application with Canon’s advanced Multifunctional Embedded Application Platform (MEAP) enabled imageRUNNER line of multifunction printers (MFPs).

Since pioneering the embedded MFP software development platform with the launch of MEAP in 2003, Canon has been collaborating with leading third-party software vendors, customers and dealers to develop custom MEAP-based applications that simplify the interaction between end-users and Canon devices, while being customized to fit a user’s specific workflow. The new MEAP version of the emFAST FACSys Fax Messaging Gateway, a network fax server application, will allow users to fax documents directly from Canon imageRUNNER MFPs. Users no longer have to wait at the MFP for confirmation of their fax transmissions since FACSys will send the notification directly to the user’s desktop. Users can also resend or redirect failed message transmissions directly from the desktop.

In addition, sensitive faxes will no longer be forgotten in the print tray as users can access their FACSys Inbox directly from the touch screen of the Canon imageRUNNER device to print the document while they are there to receive it.

Finally, using the FACSys Connector for Canon MEAP enabled imageRUNNERs ensures that all transmissions are captured and recorded for the purpose of compliance by providing necessary details and audit logs and storing the sent or received fax image for retrieval.

“By utilizing Canon’s powerful MEAP technology, emFAST has created a value added solution for imageRUNNER devices that provides users across all industries the ability to help reduce costs and streamline workflow,” said Dennis Amorosano, senior director, Solutions Marketing & Business Support, Canon U.S.A. “This ability to better manage documents, communications and security will substantially increase the end-users’ convenience and overall experience.”

According to Peter Valier, director of IT, emFAST Inc. “MEAP enables emFAST to take the integration of the FACSys fax messaging platform and the Canon MFPs to a whole new level. Comprehensive two-way communication made possible by MEAP gives users unparalleled access to fax server resources in a secure, productive and convenient manner.”

Key features of the FACSys Fax Messaging Gateway integration with Canon MEAP enabled imageRUNNER MFPs include:

Enables users to transmit and print incoming faxes directly from the touch screens of the Canon imageRUNNER by leveraging the print capabilities of the device
Allows users to create new fax messages where they can define outgoing fax message properties such as recipients, subject, cover page, attachments and comments
Recipient destinations can be input directly as a fax number or by selecting recipients in the FACSys user-specific phone books
Fax attachments can be added to an outgoing FACSys fax message using one of three methods:
from a FACSys user’s Inbox
from a directory on the local network
scanned from the Canon imageRUNNER device
From the touch screen, users have access to their individual FACSys Inbox, from which they can forward existing fax messages or print them directly at the Canon imageRUNNER
