GEO to be launched in Brazil
Wednesday 11. February 2009 - The reportage magazine GEO is continuing its international expansion strategy and will make its debut in Brazil March 9th 2009 in cooperation with one of the country's largest publishing houses, the Group Editora Escala Ltda.
GEO Brazil is based on the central editorial and publishing concept of GEO International in Hamburg and will be launched in the Portuguese language. Editor-in-Chief of GEO Brazil will be Jussara Goyano, an experienced journalist, who has written amongst others for the Brazilian edition of “Scientific American”. GEO Brazil’s cover price is expected to be about 10 Reais (3,30 Euro) and the magazine volume will be 116 pages.
Editora Escala, with headquarters in Sao Paulo was founded in 1992 and is one of the largest publishers in Brazil today. In addition to a large variety of local magazines among others in the segments women, entertainment, economy and living, Editora Escala also publishes the international magazines “Car&Driver” (Hachette Filipacchi Media) and “Maxim” (Alpha Media Group) as international licenses for the Brazilian market.
With the launch of GEO in Brazil, the reportage magazine will be now published with local editions in 21 countries worldwide.

It is published in Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, India, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Romania, Russia, Slovakia, Spain, Switzerland, Turkey and now in Brazil.
