Staples, Inc. Announces Senior Executive Changes

Staples, Inc. (Nasdaq: SPLS) today announced senior executive changes in its human resources and marketing organizations. Shira Goodman will become executive vice president of human resources effective
May 1, responsible for Staples global HR strategies and programs. Goodman, formerly executive vice president of marketing, will succeed Susan Hoyt who, after 13 years of HR leadership at Staples, will be retiring in September. Goodman will report directly to Ron Sargent, Staples chairman and chief executive officer.
“Over the years, Susan has provided outstanding leadership to the HR function, strengthening Staples reputation as an employer of choice. She has served as one of the most influential organizational architects of the company. We wish her all the best as she enters retirement this year,” said Sargent. “As we move ahead, Shira brings her tremendous leadership skills and deep knowledge of our business to her new role. She will drive the development of important HR initiatives globally to support Staples commitment to be the worlds best office products company.”
Goodman joined Staples in 1992 and has served in a number of leadership roles at the company. Since 2001, she has served as executive vice president of marketing responsible for the strategic, creative, operational and financial aspects of all Staples marketing programs. Recently, Goodman has also lead the companys global business integration efforts following Staples acquisition of Corporate Express last year.
