Suzhou City Certifies Fuji Xerox Recycling Site as a Pilot Enterprise for Suzhous Recycling Economy

On December 11, 2008, Fuji Xerox Eco-Manufacturing (Suzhou) Co., Ltd., a recycling site located in Suzhou City, China, and wholly owned by Fuji Xerox Co., Ltd., was certified by the Suzhou City Government as a Pilot Enterprise for Suzhous Recycling Economy.
As part of its environmental policies, the Chinese government launched this certification program in 2008 to encourage corporate activities including environmental conservation and resource saving that help promote recycling economy in China. For its first year, the program started with Suzhou, which is proactively implementing environmental policies, and nominated potential pilot enterprises from throughout the city. Following rigorous screening by the Suzhou Citys Economic and Trade Commission as well as Environmental Protection Bureau, 100 firms were certified. The Chinese Government plans to extend the program throughout the country.
Fuji Xerox Eco-Manufacturing (Suzhou) completely disassembles and recycles used products including copy/multifunction devices and cartridges recovered from all over China (excluding Hong KongNote 1, MacaoNote 1 and Taiwan) by Fuji Xerox (China) Ltd., Fuji Xeroxs sales company in China. The recycling site commenced operation in January 2008, has the capacity to disassemble and recycle 15,000 devices and 500,000 cartridges per year, and aims to achieve recycling rates of more than 96 percent for devices and 99 percent for cartridges by the end of March 2009.
As a responsible manufacturer, Fuji Xerox aims to achieve zero landfill, no pollution, and no illegal disposal, and this certification shows that the companys efforts are understood and valued in China. Fuji Xerox continues to reinforce its resource recycling systemNote 2, which offers an advanced model to balance business operations with the environment.
Note 1 The recovery and recycling of used products in Hong Kong and Macao is covered by Fuji Xeroxs Asia-Pacific integrated recycling system based in Thailand.
Note 2 As one of its corporate social responsibility efforts, Fuji Xerox formulated a product recycling policy in 1995 that promotes resource-recycling aiming at zero landfill, and achieved zero landfill of used products in Japan in August 2000. In December 2004, Fuji Xerox established an integrated recycling system based in Thailand that recovers used products from nine countries and regions in the Asia-Pacific area, achieving zero landfill in the region.
