Colourstream Links Up with Bill Tidy for Charity Work
Thursday 29. January 2009 - Derby commercial printer Colourstream has loaned the use of its new ten-colour Heidelberg SM 52 Anicolor and an Autobond Mini 74 TPM to produce 350 place mats for the forthcoming Lady Taverners charity dinner, which will be held during March.
The image being reproduced on the place mats was produced by cartoonist Bill Tidy, who is president of the Lords Taverners Charity. The Lady Taverners was formed in 1987 with Baroness Thatcher as the first Lady Taverner and raises funds for adapted minibuses as well as sport and recreation facilities for young people with special needs.
Colourstream handled repro and platemaking in its pre-press department before printing the cards on the Heidelberg press, which was only the second ten-colour SM 52 Anicolor in the world when it was commissioned last autumn. The Mini 74 TP was installed early in 2008 and has since been retrofitted with Autobonds new magnetic lamination facility. This enables Colourstream to apply a laminate to one side of a sheet and a magnetic material to the other in one pass.
“Were delighted to be able to help out,” says Colourstream managing director John Greene. “Bill Tidy lives quite near to Derby and he arrived at the factory with the hand drawn artwork himself. I understand guests at the dinner will be able to take the mats away with them at the end of the evening, so our prints could end up in some very prestigious homes around the country!”
