Spector Photo Group NV Bolsters Imaging Division With HP Indigo Digital Presses
Friday 23. January 2009 - Spector Photo Group NV, a imaging and multimedia specialist, has strengthened its imaging division with the installation of two HP Indigo 7000 Digital Presses.
The company, which has already two HP Indigo press 5500s, will use the new machines to produce photobooks, calendars, diaries and greeting cards.
Belgium-based Spector operates in fifteen countries across Europe and has more than 1,000 employees. The group’s imaging division provides photo print services to more than 500 retail outlets in Benelux, and has more than three million ExtraFilm customers across Europe.
“Back in 2004, developing and exposing analogue photos was our main activity,” said Stef De corte, CEO of the Imaging Group. “By 2008, it accounted for just one-third of our output. The combined digital and analogue turnover is currently approximately 50 million – considerably less than a couple of years ago, but the digital share is increasing by more than 30 percent every year. For the first time since switching from analogue to digital, we’re forecasting an increase in total turnover in 2009.”
In September 2007, the company installed two HP Indigo 5500 presses. For maximum flexibility Spector chose a four-colour and a six-colour digital press. To meet the increasing demand for special photo products, Spector installed the two HP Indigo 7000 Digital Presses in 2008.
“Our aim, which we invariably meet, is to process and deliver orders within 48 hours,” said De corte. “It’s a considerable task – ExtraFilm sends two to three million packages a year. Some days we receive up to a thousand emails which all need a reply. To keep the operation moving and maintain exemplary customer service, we employ fifteen people for the Benelux and France, five in Switzerland for central Europe, and ten in Sweden for the Scandinavian countries.”
