Autobond Mini 74 TH Enables Luxembourg Printer To Bring Laminating In-House

Monday 19. January 2009 - Imprimerie Centrale in Luxembourg is now able to handle all of its laminating requirements in-house following the recent installation of an Autobond Mini 74 TH from French distributor Ollagnier SA.

Imprimerie Centrale had previously been sending work to a variety of trade houses, but this involved significant transport costs and additional time within the production schedule.

“Probably the greatest benefit to us is that we can now provide our customers with the highest quality laminating,” says Marcel Schmit, head of production. “Before the installation of the Autobond Mini 74 TH we received varying levels of quality from the suppliers we used, depending upon the equipment they operated and the film they purchased. It seemed that they often used the cheapest film available but this did not always result in the best quality of lamination and first class quality is vital in everything that we do.

“Our technicians thoroughly examined what was available on the market. However, many of the laminators they looked at were brightly coloured machines that appeared to be designed more for the office environment. The Autobond models consistently came out on top for their construction and build quality and certainly since it was commissioned last August the Mini 74 TH has been in operation every day without a single problem.

“The Autobond laminators are very easy to use and we now have four operators who are training to run the Mini 74 TH, which is a thermal laminator equipped with a Heidelberg 74 feeder. We achieve high productivity on a wide range of stock, producing a variety of jobs. The performance of the Autobond machine has been so impressive that we are now offering laminating services to other sheet-fed printers within the Luxembourg area,” says Mr Schmit.

Imprimerie Centrale is a major printing operation in Luxembourg, operating an eight and ten-colour Heidelberg Speedmaster as well as an eight-colour manroland R708 HiPrint. The company, which employs 280 people, also has an array of high-end digital output equipment, while its KBA coldset web offset press is used to print newspapers. Imprimerie Centrale’s customers are spread throughout Europe and include leading names within the banking, financial and corporate worlds.
