CANON U.S.A FORTIFIES ITS imageRUNNER LINE WITH THE INTRODUCTION OF THE imageRUNNER 5050N
Friday 16. January 2009 - Canon Unveils The Latest Addition to Its Monochrome, Multifunctional Product Line
Addressing the diverse and continuously evolving document workflow needs of mid-to-high volume workgroups and corporate environments, Canon U.S.A, a leader in digital document imaging and office solutions, today unveiled the latest addition to its award-winning imageRUNNER product line with the imageRUNNER 5050N model.
Built on Canon’s next generation imageCHIP (Concurrent Hyper Intelligent Platform) system architecture, the imageRUNNER 5050N system combines the capabilities of single function printers, faxes, scanners and copiers into one, user-friendly, high-quality, multifunction monochrome system without putting significant strains on a company’s budget. The imageRUNNER 5050N model delivers exceptional output speeds of up to 50 pages-per-minuteI (ppm) and accurate, quality scanning speeds at up to 65 images-per-minuteII (ipm), making it an ideal, cost-effective solution for mid-high volume work environments.
“Business and work environments are constantly changing and always looking to streamline workflows while increasing productivity at a manageable cost,” said Sam Yoshida, vice president and general manager, Canon U.S.A. “By introducing a new, aggressively priced, multifunctional model in the imageRUNNER 5050N, Canon offers an all-in-one, monochrome solution that maximizes productivity and extends the means to communicate efficiently and securely within the office environment.”
Recognizing a business’ need for a more streamlined workplace, the imageRUNNER 5050N system is now readily equipped for standard network printing – an optional feature on its predecessor model, the imageRUNNER 5050. In addition to standard Printer Control Language (PCL) printing, Canon’s proprietary Ultra Fast Rendering II, (UFR II) can be utilized to enable high-speed, network printing for both Windows and Macintosh environments. For users and environments that require PostScript 3 emulation, the PS Printer Kit-R1 is an available option.
To help streamline document sharing, the optional Universal Send technology allows users to distribute scanned documents to multiple network destinations, including E-mail and Internet fax addresses, local Mail Boxes, fax, network folders and document management systems, in one simple operation. An optional Super G3 Fax board can also be added.
The Canon imageRUNNER 5050N model supports a number of advanced document handling and finishing capabilities. The standard Duplexing Automatic Document Feeder enables fast scan speeds at up to 65-images per minute. The standard 4,150-sheet paper supply can be increased to a maximum of 7,650 sheets by adding one of two paper decksIII and it can also handle up to 110lb Index media weights, including Tab Paper support.
For advanced finishing, the imageRUNNER 5050N model offers a multi-position staple finisher or a saddle finisher. Both finishing options can be equipped with a 2/3-hole puncher, a document insertion unit, or a document insertion/folding unit. The Document Insertion/Folding Unit allows users to add pre-printed color or black-and-white covers to their document sets and adds the capability to Z-fold up to 11-inch x 17-inch paper sizes for easy collation into Letter-sized document sets, and C-fold documents to prepare them for insertion into envelope.
When used in conjunction with Canon’s imageWARE suite of products, the imageRUNNER 5050N system can truly streamline business operations. Canon’s imageWARE Document Manager Personal allows users to capture, archive, retrieve and manage documents from within the imageRUNNER model’s mail boxes, right from a personal computer while imageWARE Publishing Manager ensures that even the most demanding print jobs can be accomplished easily and timely with the ability to preview, merge, and edit multiple files into one print job.
Simplify device management across an entire fleet of devices with Canon’s imageWARE Enterprise Management Console (EMC), a Web-based utility that allows the device administrator to easily and remotely perform a variety of tasks including specifying which users have access to the device and its functions; easily replicating settings and address books across multiple devices; and monitoring the entire fleet with access to view the systems’ configuration information, supply levels, documents and address books.
As the need for device and document security becomes more prevalent in organizations worldwide, the imageRUNNER 5050N model is equipped with a number of features designed to help ensure the security of the device and protect confidential information. With Canon’s Access Management System (AMS), restrictions and access to specific functions or features can be assigned to particular users or workgroups. Optional Hard Disk Drive (HDD) Encryption and HDD Data Erase help further prevent confidential data from being compromised.
The ENERGY STAR qualified imageRUNNER 5050N model will be available immediately through Canon authorized dealers and Canon Business Solutions at manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) of $14,000.
