Metso starts negotiations regarding temporary lay-offs at the conveyor belt factory in Tampere, Finland
Monday 12. January 2009 - Metso will start personnel discussions regarding the temporary lay-off of all production personnel at its conveyor belt factory in Tampere, Finland.
The temporary lay-offs will affect all of the unit´s manufacturing personnel, altogether approx. 60 people. The measures are caused by the weakening of the global market situation, which has led to a decrease in the order backlog.
Metso aims primarily to respond to the change in the load situation by reducing the working time of employees and by discontinuing temporary employments. Decisions regarding the temporary lay-offs will be made by the end of March. The measures will commence at the end of March at the earliest.
The Kalkku factory is a part of the company’s Mining business line. It manufactures rubber belts primarily for the mining and construction industries.
