Rexam appoints Steve Wirrig as Managing Director, Primary Packaging and Prescription

Rexam, a global leader in consumer packaging, recently announced that it has appointed Steve Wirrig to Managing Director of its Primary Packaging and Prescription business within its Plastic Packaging sector. He will work out of Perrysburg, Ohio, the head office of Primary Packaging and Prescription.

January 2009 - Rexam, a global leader in consumer packaging, recently announced that it has appointed Steve Wirrig to Managing Director of its Primary Packaging and Prescription business within its Plastic Packaging sector. He will work out of Perrysburg, Ohio, the head office of Primary Packaging and Prescription.

Steve joined Rexam Beverage Can North America (BCNA) in 2003 as head of Marketing, playing an instrumental role in the sector’s focus on profitable growth and the commercialization of innovative specialty can sizes. He was promoted to BCNA Vice President of Sales and Marketing last year, leading the commercial efforts to effectively balance capacity and demand and improve margins.

Prior to joining Rexam he was Director of Global Product Management and Strategic Planning for US based Textron Fastening Systems, a US$1.7 bn global sector of Textron Inc. He began his career at General Motors and has taken on increasing responsibilities in leading organizations, building global businesses with a strong focus on customer success and satisfaction.

As the Managing Director of the Primary Packaging and Prescription business, Wirrig will lead operations that include seven plants and more than 700 employees.

Wirrig is a graduate of GMI Engineering and Management Institute, formerly General Motors Institute, with a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, and will live in Ohio.
