RR Donnelley Acquires the Assets of Chilean Web Printer PROSA
Monday 05. January 2009 - R.R. Donnelley & Sons Company (NYSE: RRD) announced today that it has acquired the assets of PROSA, a Chilean web printing company located in Santiago, from Copesa (Consorcio Period stico de Chile) for a cash consideration of approximately $23.5 million.
The acquisition will enhance RR Donnelleys Latin American platform and complement its existing facility in Santiago de Chile. PROSA produces magazines, catalogs, retail inserts and soft-cover textbooks.
“PROSA fits exactly with each of our criteria for making acquisitions,” said Thomas J. Quinlan III, RR Donnelleys President and Chief Executive Officer. “It adds needed capacity without the immediate need for capital expenditures, provides important new customer relationships and opens the door to future synergies as we blend PROSA with our existing operations in Chile.”
With the addition of PROSA, RR Donnelley will have 15 facilities in Latin America and the Caribbean, including operations in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Mexico and Venezuela.
Luiz J. Bring, President of RR Donnelleys Latin America business, stated, “PROSA enjoys an exceptional reputation and will immediately help to create incremental scale advantages. Its products and services match exactly with our core expertise and we expect a smooth integration with our other operations in the region. We look forward to bringing additional benefits to PROSAs customers.”
