Klabin and Moinho Paulista innovate and launch new packaging for 25 kg of wheat flour
Thursday 18. December 2008 - Approved by bakeries, this new paper sack option has been developed in a joint effort between Moinho Paulista, Klabin and Haver & Boecker Latinoamericana
Klabin, Brazils biggest paper producer, exporter and recycler, has developed a new paper sack for 25 kg of wheat flour. The new packaging uses high strength paper and can be printed with up to eight colors, adding value to the product and improving the customers brand exposure. Its valve with a welded external sleeve, ideal for automatic systems, increases the customers productivity, offering an excellent cost-benefit ratio.
After pilot testing which carefully evaluated market acceptance, Moinho Paulista, a traditional company in the national wheat flour milling industry and the manufacturer of Nita Flour, decided to introduce this solution into its line of products. Since it pays close attention to the interests of its customers, acceptance by the bakeries was fundamental for Moinho to make the necessary investments for this significant change.
Development and market testing were aided by the partnership with Haver & Boecker Latinoamericana, a supplier of equipment for sack filling and closing.
The demand from the market for untamperable packaging which does not leak resulted in Moinho Paulistas adoption of the Haver & Boecker fully automated RotoSeal rotary sack-filler for 800 sacks an hour, which allows for high-precision weighing. Ultra-sound sealing of the external valves of Klabins paper sacks ensures safe and efficient closure. With no leaks, the system eliminates product loss and extra labor costs, and provides a cleaner, safer and more suitable work environment.
Not only does it prevent tampering and possible theft, but the construction of the packaging also helps to avoid contamination from external elements. The more compact paper sacks, compared with other solutions, facilitate handling, storage and transport.
For bakeries, these paper sacks enhance hygiene in the areas of storage and bread preparation, and make the handling and dosage of flour easier. “This novel design has been very well received by the market and bakeries, which have already tested the new product, have shown preference for the new packaging”, Marcos Pereira, Sales Manager for Moinho Paulista, points out.
The leader in the multi-wall sack segment, Klabin has always been recognized for the quality of its products and service to customers from widely varying segments. Furthermore, the company has concentrated on the continual modernization of its industrial plant and on providing differentiated solutions for its customers.
“This new product which has been developed so that our customers can excel in their own markets, is a result of Klabins continuous investment in research and the constant improvement of its products and services”, states Antonio Andrucioli, Director of Klabins Industrial Sacks Business Unit.
The new packages are also environmentally correct since they are 100% recyclable, biodegradable and originate from renewable sources of raw material. Besides this, they are easily sold as waste paper for recycling, with a good selling price in this market.
Klabins forests and production processes are certified by the FSC, Forest Stewardship Council, an international organization which attests to the proper management of forests and their production chain, confirming that the company runs its activities within the highest possible socioenvironmental standards.
