Zeitungsverlag Schwerin opts for high-speed inserter from Schur Packaging Systems

Tuesday 16. December 2008 - First Schur NewsStar earmarked for Schweriner Volkszeitung, Schwerin in Germany

Zeitungsverlag Schwerin GmbH & Co. KG (ZVS) selected the new Schur high-speed inserter A 1055, also called the NewsStar for the heart of its new production line in the printing centre in Schwerin, Germany. ZVS will increase the productivity even further by adding the NewsStar to the mailroom. The NewsStar is Schur’s brand new inserter that was introduced at the IFRA 2007 as the first of a new generation. The NewsStar A 1055 Inserter is equipped with a new and revolutionary feeder system. It is an improved construction in comparison to the exhibition model shown at the Ifra 2007. The new feeder System guarantee’s a net – output of 50.000 cph.

Zeitungsverlag Schwerin GmbH & Co. KG, ZVS publishes one of the North-East Germany’s large regional daily newspapers, the Schweriner Volkszeitung. The leading newspaper which appears with various titles in the region of Westmecklenburg (Mecklenburg Vorpommern) comes out with a daily circulation of 110,000 copies alongside with weekly free advertiser with over 482,000 copies.

Since 2005 ZVS belongs to the Schleswig – Holsteinischer Zeitungsverlag (sh:z), which belongs to medien holding: nord (mh:n), a Group with the highest volume in the North of Germany. The sh:z appears daily with 190,000 copies in 14 locals editions together with weekly free advertiser with over half a million copies.

The A. Beig publishing house in Pinneberg, a member of the sh:z – group has a long term cooperation with a Schur Mailroom. They installed in 1998 a complete Schur mailroom, which is today online connected to a MAN Colorman XXL.

This time, the sh:z group decided to invest in its printing centre in Schwerin by choosing the NewsStar. Arguments for the decision are following: good experience from A.Beig, Pinneberg and the improved control – system, specially the zoning – operation down to each single copy.

NewsStar is fast, flexible and very efficient. It has a specially designed star with 48 pockets. The amount of pockets add time to the actual inserting procedure, rendering the production with an extraordinary stability and reliability, while the design of the pockets permits the machine to work with extra thin products. The design of the Inserter – Star allows a wide range of main jacket sizes. The same star can run all known formats without mechanical changes.

With the introduction of a new and advanced hi-speed inserter, model A1055 NewsStar, Schur Packaging Systems is able to match the toughest and most efficiency-requiring inserting demands in the market. “The NewsStar is without any doubt the completion of our product portfolio.
