Denise F. Warren, SVP and Chief Advertising Officer, The New York Times Media Group, Adds Role of General Manager, NYTimes.com
Monday 08. December 2008 - The New York Times Company today announced that effective immediately, Denise F. Warren will take on the role of general manager of NYTimes.com in addition to her current position as senior vice president and chief advertising officer, The New York Times Media Group.
As general manager of NYTimes.com she will manage all business operations for the largest newspaper Web site on the Internet, and will report to Martin A. Nisenholtz, senior vice president for digital operations, The New York Times Company. Ms. Warren will also continue to lead all advertising sales efforts for The New York Times Media Group, reporting to Scott Heekin-Canedy, president and general manager, The New York Times.
In making the announcement, Mr. Nisenholtz said, “Denise’s strategic acumen, diverse experience, and ability to introduce and monetize new products make her an ideal fit for this new role. We look forward to Denise’s strong leadership and commitment to innovation as we continue to maximize the potential of NYTimes.com.”
Ms. Warren, 44, was named senior vice president and chief advertising officer for The New York Times Media Group in 2005. In that position, Ms. Warren is responsible for advertising sales for The New York Times, the International Herald Tribune, NYTimes.com and WQXR (96.3 FM), the Times’s classical radio station based in New York City. During her tenure Ms. Warren has been responsible for financial results that have far exceeded industry benchmarks in the very important area of online display sales. She has focused on monetizing unique product launches and investing in innovation, such as the creation of T Magazine online, which has attracted significant luxury advertising. Ms. Warren has managed the combined print/digital ad sales force since its integration three years ago.
Previously, Ms. Warren was senior vice president of strategic planning for The New York Times. She joined the Times Company in 1988 as a financial analyst in its Forest Products Group.
Ms. Warren earned a B.S. and Management Degree from Tulane University in 1985 and an M.B.A. degree in Communications and Media Management from Fordham University in 1992. She is a Certified Public Accountant.
