Taylor Printing Reaps the Many Rewards of Going Green with Agfa Graphics

Tuesday 02. December 2008 - Agfa's Thermofuse Technology facilitates 75% decrease in waste and water usage

Agfa Graphics announced today that Taylor Printing, a commercial printer located in Fredericton, New Brunswick has seen a substantial decline in water usage and waste removal yielding cost reductions and environmental benefits as a direct result of Agfa’s prepress and printing technologies.

With a steadfast dedication to the environment, Taylor drew on its commitment to being ‘green’ and the needs of its clients as the backbone of its mission statement when it opened in 2005. Today, Taylor’s ‘green’ commitment includes the use of vegetable-based inks and adhering to strict recycling guidelines for all paper – from post production to the administrative office. Taylor also moved to Agfa’s :Avalon SF thermal CtP system, :Apogee automated workflow and :Amigo thermal plates over 18 months ago. :Amigo thermal plates use ThermoFuse technology to deliver robust, high resolution plate performance. :Amigo plates deliver the highest quality press results with chemical resistance and extraordinary processing latitude due to the use of physical, rather than chemical, plate processing.
Agfa’s ongoing contribution to technological innovation is evident in its ThermoFuse CtP technology. ThermoFuse physically bonds images to the plate without any chemical development, resulting in fewer remakes, reduced down time on press and lower costs.
“Since we started with these products we reduced the amount of waste water by 75%. :Amigo plates have made it so much easier for us to work. The quality and consistency of our output is higher and we no longer need a darkroom,” said Barb Calhoun, manager of Taylor Printing.”
The end result for Taylor Printing is more consistent and higher quality end products, efficient job management and a cleaner process for making plates.
Taylor has since earned the Agfa Greenworks Environmental Recognition Award which acknowledges customers committed to environmental awareness and the use of efficient prepress and printing technologies.
