Modularised labeller for the pharmaceutical industry
Thursday 27. November 2008 - At the Pack Expo in Chicago, the stand of Krones AG, Neutraubling, Germany, showcased a modularized labeler designed specifically for the US pharmaceutical industry. Besides being specially constructed to handle the small containers used in this industry, the machine also meets the requirements of Americas pharmaceutical companies for low conveyor heights of just 930 mm.
A pneumatically controlled label magazine provides an option for handling outserts, with preparation of an automatic feed system. Two cameras at the container table detect the pressure-sensitive label and the outsert. A swivelling application wedge, including a web tightener, ensures that any incorrectly printed labels will not be applied to the actual container. The label remains on the carrier web. At the applicator rail, the labels are individually date-coded using laser technology for product serialisation. The correspondingly prepared Prontomodule 720 is suitable for speeds of up to 18,000 containers an hour
