DuPont Knowledge Center to Open This Week in India

Wednesday 19. November 2008 - The DuPont Knowledge Center (DKC) in Hyderabad, India, will officially open on November 21 -- 17 months after breaking ground.

Located on 15 acres, this new research & development site houses a biotechnology lab, a materials research lab, a global engineering design center and greenhouses. Home to more than 180 DuPont employees, the center joins basic research, applications development, engineering design, bioinformatics, patent services and many regional support services.
“I am very excited about the opportunity to attract some of the world’s best-trained scientists and engineers to work at the DuPont Knowledge Center,” said Uma Chowdhry, DuPont senior vice president and chief science & technology officer. “We have chosen a region with premier life sciences research and strong applied information technology as the location for DuPont’s research center in India. Our goal is to develop products to meet not only the needs of people in India but also the needs of customers around the world.”
“DKC’s value proposition is to develop sustainable solutions for India and global markets by using integrated science to create commercial value,” said Homi Bhedwar, director, DuPont Knowledge Center. “Under one roof, we will have the key sciences and materials science coupled with engineering to create unique and commercializable solutions.”
The DKC already has begun research programs for DuPont business Pioneer Hi-Bred, DuPont Crop Protection and DuPont Applied BioSciences. In 2009-2010, activities will commence in CR&D science labs and with businesses across the company. By the end of 2010, research will be underway at DKC to support all DuPont growth platforms.
