Wyndeham Heron pulls out all the stops for US Election Specials
Monday 17. November 2008 - Wyndeham Heron adjusted its schedules to enable the magazine editors to deliver files later than normal and cover the breaking news of the election results and immediate aftermath.
Time, Newsweek, New Statesman and The Spectator have a combined print run of 377,000 copies. The 328 pages were printed across Wyndeham Heron’s 1 x 72pp, 1 x 64pp Lithomans plus 3 x 32pp Rotomans, then stitched over 5 high speed saddle stitching lines.
Final PDF files of The Spectator special issue were delivered into Wyndeham Heron at 1pm on Wednesday with the first copies leaving on dedicated vans at 6.30pm in order to be on sale the following day. Newsweek, which normally prints on a Sunday, was pulled forward to Wednesday evening so that it could be delivered to the newsstand early. Final files from the New Statesman were accepted at Wyndeham Heron 3 hours later than the usual schedule, and an additional 10,000 copies of Time magazine were produced in order to meet the expected demand.
“On Wednesday we printed 4 of the UK’s biggest news magazines as well as 4 regular business titles which demonstrates Heron’s fire power and unrivalled ability to cope with such complex and demanding schedules,” said Alan Outlaw, Customer Services Director, Wyndeham Heron. “All the magazines were printed and delivered on time and we’d like to say a big thank you to all our staff for making this happen.”
