Metso Paper starts temporary lay-off negotiations in Turku, Finland

Tuesday 04. November 2008 - Metso Paper will start personnel discussions regarding the temporary lay-off of all personnel at the Air and Chemical Systems unit and Metso Paper Turku Works Oy, both located in Turku, Finland. These lay-offs result from a reduction in the amount of work, caused by changes in the schedules of projects in the order backlog.

The members of staff to be laid off, and the duration and timing of these lay-offs will depend on the workload of each department. The lay-offs will commence in January 2009 at the earliest.

The units have a personnel of 384 people and are part of Metso Paper’s Paper and Board business line. They specialize in air and chemicals systems and corresponding specialist services for the pulp, paper and board industry.
