Atlantic Zeiser launches high volume personalization solutions at CARTES for SIM and ID cards based on its PERSOLINE personalization platforms
Wednesday 05. November 2008 - Speeds of up to 8,000 cards can be sustained even for most complex graphical and electrical personalization requirements
Atlantic Zeiser, a world-leader in industrial high-security coding and personalization technologies, will showcase two new configurations of PERSOLINE at CARTES 2008, November 4th- 6th, 2008 in Paris.
PERSOLINE SIM is a full-featured configuration that ideally matches the cost and quality criteria for high volume SIM card personalization.
PERSOLINE ID offers a comprehensive personalization solution for government ID cards, access cards, driving licenses or health care cards.
Both PERSOLINE solutions will run in live production at Atlantic Zeiser’s stand G41 in Hall 3, highlighting PERSOLINE’s flexibility to be configured in many different ways to target specific markets and applications.
SIM and PayTV card personalization at 8,000 cards per hour
PERSOLINE SIM is a modular personalization system for electrical and graphical personalization for all types of SIM and PayTV cards at unmatched productivity.
PERSOLINE SIM supports a maximum machine speed of 8000 cards per hour – this speed can be sustained even for extensive graphical personalization requirements like multiple barcodes and for long chip programming times of up to 54 seconds.
The innovative Atlantic Zeiser OMEGA 72 HD inkjet imaging module, a 720dpi high-resolution digital printer featuring 72mm print width, is integrated for deep-black graphical personalization and allows ultra-compact barcode printing. Using Atlantic Zeiser’s printing inks ensures high contrast and graphical resolution, with perfect adhesion to a wide variety of card materials and surfaces.
The new SMARTCURE 72i curing system features ultra-fast UV curing and offers an increased lifetime compared to other UV curing solutions.
A new dedicated chip programming solution allows a scalable number of up to 120 chip programming heads. This allows SIM card personalizers to cope with the most complex personalization requirements, even the upcoming MegaSIMs.
The modular system architecture allows the integration of an optional Laser Marking Module that features a cost saving embedded flipping device for processing both card faces with one single laser.
An additional Label Application Module permits inline application and graphical personalization of labels for dedicated SIM Card Packages, matching the requirements of MVNOs.
Superior cost-effective ID card personalization
The PERSOLINE ID addresses the market demand for a single pass full color card personalization solution that can efficiently handle large volumes at lower costs, compared to current thermal transfer or dye sublimation technologies, while achieving significantly higher productivity.
PERSOLINE ID handles up to 6,000 personalized cards per hour in four-color personalization with a significantly lower cost for consumables in comparison with alternative solutions. The solution will premiere with the new GAMMA 70 full color inkjet module, offering 70mm print width at 360dpi, with 8 levels of grayscale and LED pinning for superior print quality. The configuration will include the OMEGA 72i drop-on-demand (DOD) printer to cover the entire card face with an ultra-durable protective UV varnish layer.
In combination with the new scalable chip programming solution the high processing speed of 6,000 cards per hour can be sustained for electrical personalization times of up to 70s.
The PERSOLINE ID also excels as a single card artwork printing solution for cost-efficiently producing small batches.
The PERSOLINE Platform
Atlantic Zeiser developed PERSOLINE as a powerful and flexible platform that can be easily configured with different system modules to handle specific applications. PERSOLINE excels at producing large card volumes at lower costs, while achieving significantly higher productivity.
Dr. Hans Wyssmann, Vice President Card Systems, at Atlantic Zeiser, comments: “These new configurations of PERSOLINE will enable card producers to cost-effectively boost their productivity in the globally booming markets for SIM or ID cards. However since the PERSOLINE is a fully modular Smart Card personalization platform for virtually any chip card application – both contact and contactless, both solutions can be expanded as needed to meet new production requirements or to address new application fields like financial cards. This approach ensures a long-term return on investment, while delivering exceptional savings in consumables, manpower and time.”
In addition to inkjet printing systems, in-house developed printing inks, dryer and curing units, Atlantic Zeiser also provides total solutions with personalization technologies and transport units that are integrated according to the customers requirements. Sales experts will be available during CARTES 2008 to speak with customers about their particular application requirements.
