APS replaces rival system with alpha.f unit
Monday 03. November 2008 - APS Group Print Management Services has adopted the technotrans alpha.f filtration system for its Roland 710 long perfector after extensive tests.
The ISO 140001 accredited company, one of the UKs greenest printers, was using a rival system across its battery of alcohol free presses.
“Running alcohol free gives us a particular need for a filtration unit and it became evident that the alpha.f was a more robust unit than the one we were running, with less maintenance needed,” says Ian Duddle, print and environmental manager. “This gives us a cost benefit over a life cycle.”
The company is changing filters approximately every six months and it runs drain downs from the circulating tanks although Mr Duddle believes this could be reduced, even to every two months. There have been chemistry cost benefits because there is no need to change the dampening water or filters very often.
“The operators love the alpha.f because they dont have to go anywhere near it and it has had a very positive impact on our overall quality, efficiency, environmental credentials and economics of production. We would certainly buy another alpha.f again.”
