Two of Turkeys biggest publishing groups, TMedya and Star Medya Grubu, have ordered 16 KODAK TRENDSETTER CTP Devices between them. TMedya has acquired six KODAK TRENDSETTER NEWS Thermal Platesetters and one KODAK TRENDSETTER 800 III QUANTUM Platesetter. Star Matbaac?l?k, which prints a variety of national and regional titles belonging to Star Medya Grubu, has purchased nine KODAK TRENDSETTER NEWS Devices.
TMedya, with four printing facilities across Turkey, publishes one of the countrys leading daily newspapers, Aksam. It has over 800 employees and an annual turnover of around 100 million US dollars. Star Medya Grubu, which has around 600 employees, owns Star, Gaste, and Bugun newspapers. ?n addition to the TRENDSETTER Devices, it has also invested in KODAK PRINERGY EVO Software to improve its workflow.
Mr. Nermi Karacabeyli, General Manager of Aksam Newspaper, explained why the company chose Kodaks CTP devices:
“We have been using a TRENDSETTER NEWS Thermal Platesetter, which utilizes KODAK STACCATO FM Screening Technology, on our Istanbul site for two years. The advantages offered by STACCATO Screening have impressed us so much that we decided to purchase more TRENDSETTER Devices for our other printing sites in Ankara, Izmir and Adana,” he said. “Having worked with Kodak for over 11 years, we feel confident that this investment will help us to improve quality, productivity and profitability for our publications.”
Mr. Noyan Ergun, Manager of Star Matbaac?l?k also revealed the reasons for purchasing KODAK Products:
“We have plans to increase the volume of production therefore we want to invest in technology that will help us to meet this objective. Although we have never worked with Kodak before, we are confident that the TRENDSETTER NEWS CTP Devices and PRINERGY EVO Software will quicken our turnaround times, improve our quality of print and lower production costs.”
Rinus Hoebeke, Kodaks Segment Marketing Manager for Newspaper in Europe, Africa and the Middle-East, commented:
“Although readership of printed titles in many parts of the world are declining in the age of new media, the willingness amongst Turkish printers to invest in newspaper production technology shows that this region is bucking the trend. As the newspaper market expands in Turkey, Kodak can offer a range of technologies to help printers become more streamlined and achieve better print quality.”
