Circ IT chooses Méthode for Rheinische Post and Westdeutsche Zeitung

Wednesday 29. October 2008 - The IT service provider to the two German regional dailies has selected EidosMedia’s multiple-media editorial platform.

Two of Germany’s leading regional dailies will move their media production to EidosMedia’s multiple-media publishing platform, Méthode. The announcement was made by circ IT GmbH & Co. KG based in Düsseldorf, Germany, IT service provider to both media companies.

With over a million readers, the Düsseldorf-based Rheinische Post is Germany’s second largest subscription newspaper. It serves the North Rhine-Westphalia region through 34 print editions and a number of online portals that are among Germany’s most visited web sites.

The Westdeutsche Zeitung also based in Düsseldorf, is the longest established newspaper in the Dusseldorf, Wuppertal and Krefeld metropolitan areas, with 16 print editions.

“In adopting Méthode, our customers Rheinische Post and Westdeutsche Zeitung aim to establish innovative processes in key areas of their operations,” said Dr. Kay Holzkamp, managing director of circ IT. “In particular our customers want to achieve greater synergies between their various media products.”

As well as their central newsrooms in Düsseldorf, each publication has a number of regional news offices – 30 in case of the Rheinische Post. At all locations the Méthode solution will provide a seamless platform shared by editorial staff – a total of over 500 users between the two organizations.

“The Rheinische Post and Westdeutsche Zeitung and their associated portals represent a highly evolved media and communications network,” said Holger Hofmann, managing director EidosMedia GmbH, Frankfurt/Main. “I am sure that the flexibility and power of the Méthode solution they have chosen will allow them to address the needs of their audiences even more closely in the future.”
