Xerox, Customers Score Gold Ink Honors for Excellence and Innovation in Digital Printing

Thursday 13. November 2008 - Xerox Corporation and its customers received 19 Gold Ink Awards for excellence in digital printing technology in commercial print and graphic arts environments.

In its 21st year, the Gold Ink Awards, sponsored by Printing Impressions and Publishing Executive magazines, are judged by an independent panel of graphic artists, production managers and print buyers. The awards have earned the reputation for attracting the highest quality of work from printing professionals. There were more than 1,500 entries in this year’s contest.

Winning entries produced with Xerox equipment ranged from a candy box to posters to magazines and brochures. They were printed on a variety of systems, including the Xerox iGen3 Digital Production Press, DocuColor 5000 and 8000 Digital Color Presses and the Xerox 8265 Color Wide Format Printer.

Xerox customer Palace Press took home three awards – a bronze and two pewters in the Hardcover Books category for “Reggae Scrapbook,” “Antarctica: The Global Warning” and “San Francisco Giants: 50 Years.”

Tucker/Consolidated Graphics earned a gold in the Direct Mail Packages-Variable Data category for its “iGen Direct Mail” piece, and a pewter in the same category for its “Boomerang Direct Mail” entry.

Seven other Xerox customers also earned awards. They are:

RR Donnelley, a bronze in the Scientific & Technical Journals category for its work for the Journal of Petroleum Technology
Quebecor World St. Cloud, a bronze in the Tabloid Magazines division for its printing of Water’s Edge’s January 2008 edition
Magjak Printing Company, a bronze in the Direct Mail-Variable Data category for its 2008 XMPie Calendar
Bridge Publications, a pewter in the Book Jackets category for “Dianetics: The Evolution of a Science”
Dominie Press Pte Ltd, a silver in the Consumer Magazines category for its work for Revolution Magazine
Associates Graphic Services, a silver in the Media Kits category for its “Mastercard Commercial Products Toolkit”
In addition to the work by its customers, Xerox received seven awards for using its technology to produce an array of manuals, posters, note cards and other materials.
The awards will be presented at Graph Expo, North America’s largest printing show of the year, held Oct. 26-29 in Chicago. The winning Xerox-created applications will be on display in the Xerox booth (No.1219).
