Prepress

Ultimate at GraphExpo 08

Monday 27. October 2008 - Demonstrating how to run Prepress to cross the Finishing Line automatically

At GraphExpo in Chicago and as a world wide premier, Ultimate Technographics will be introducing its new Ultimate Bindery software. Based on years of research and development through discussions with leading finishing equipment manufacturers, the totally open solution is offering the generation of a complete JDF, for the make-ready of finishing equipment. Ultimate Bindery is a generic module that applies JDF information on any imposed JDF file in order to set all parameters of a stitching line, a perfect binder line or simply a cutter or folder.

“20 years ago, Impostrip totally innovated by replacing the stripper manual tasks”, explains Joanne David, president & CEO of Ultimate. “Today, we are helping the industry realize another major leap by replacing the finishing operator’s tedious tasks, using prepress to drive finishing equipment thanks to JDF and improving printers’ margin on each and every job.”

Web2Print2Finishing
Now the automation of all jobs coming through a Web2Print workflow solution or, from an MIS system, can be extended to include automation of finishing make-ready using JDF and communicating this information to the finishing equipment via JMF or hot folder.

Manufacturing flows now completely automated
Ultimate will be demonstrating its new prepress to finishing connectivity with Ultimate Bindery and its line of Impostrip for both offset and digital printers in Duplo’s and Standard-Horizon’s booths. Ultimate will showcase its Custom Booklet Maker module, enabling customers to set repeating booklet production in any custom sequence. This is important for various lines of booklet makers working with specific booklet numbering sequences. This custom imposition is now automated via hot folder. Once the custom booklet sequence is configured, jobs are dropped into the hot folder and Impostrip On-Demand Digital will automatically impose the job according to the custom sequence.

Reducing costs on offset print jobs
Ultimate will show Ink Ready to reduce make-ready on offset presses. Simple and accurate, Ink Ready produces a report that is used to set ink keys on offset presses, or a PPF file to be used on compliant print consoles. Press make-ready is reduced to its bare minimum and a quick set up of the press allows cutting cost and eliminating paper waste, at a price all printers can afford.
