OCME presents the new ALTAIR wraparound case packer at Emballage 2008

OCME is renown for the excellence of its high speed machines. With the Altair, the company has optimised performance on the wraparound case packer, whilst at the same time offering a machine which is as mechanically simple and easy to manage as possible. The Altair is designed to run continuously on a 3-shift system and is therefore fully suited to the most demanding of working cycles.

The Altair’s total flexibility allows it to package plastic or glass containers or cans in a wide range of shapes and sizes. In regard to this, MARTINI & ROSSI (BACARDI-MARTINI GROUP) have recently demonstrated their faith in OCME products by purchasing the new ALTAIR N50 wraparound case packer, which will be installed alongside their existing four OCME machines at their Pessione site near Turin.

A strong point on the new Altair is its “delicate touch” whilst handling unusually shaped containers. Other outstanding features include bottle infeed regulation / adjustment and ease-of-use on format change – two priorities in ensuring increased production.

A further innovation is OCME’s gluing system for closing cartons using the long leading side, thus ensuring close positioning of the glue and also maximising the area covered. The carton is glued on the sides when it is passing in front of the gun and not when it is moving away from it, thereby guaranteeing a uniform spread of the glue whilst at the same time ensuring minimum usage.

Another key point is the belt system used for feeding the cartons. The blanks run sideways from the magazine to the rising ramp and are dispensed using high friction belts instead of the more traditional method of suction cups.

Format change is achieved by an easy to follow, step by step procedure, designed around an intuitive system of codes and colours.
