GIARDINI NAMED PRESIDENT OF WEYERHAEUSER COMPANY LIMITED
Thursday 09. October 2008 - Weyerhaeuser Company (NYSE: WY) today announced that Anne Giardini has been named president of the companys Canadian subsidiary, Weyerhaeuser Company Limited.
Giardini takes a role held by Craig Neeser, who retired from Weyerhaeuser effective Oct. 1.
Giardini will continue to be based in Vancouver, BC.
“Anne has a strong understanding of our Canadian operations and relationships,” said Dan Fulton, Weyerhaeuser Company president and chief executive officer, in announcing the appointment. “Her energy, dedication and passion for excellence will serve all of us extremely well as we work to provide imaginative, sustainable solutions to the challenges facing our industry today.”
Giardini joined Weyerhaeuser in 1994 as legal counsel and served as assistant general counsel before becoming vice president and general counsel in 2006. She holds a bachelors degree in economics from Simon Fraser University, a law degree from the University of British Columbia, and a masters degree in law from Trinity Hall at the University of Cambridge in England. Giardini is licensed to practice law in both British Columbia and Ontario and has been admitted to practice as an in-house counsel in the State of Washington.
An author and journalist, Giardini was a columnist for Canadas National Post for several years.
