Thursday 25. September 2008 - This month Donald Murray Paper organised a blood donation session and involved four of its neighbours, including J Thomson Colour Printers in the effort to support the Blood Transfusion Service. The other companies involved from the Kinning Park Industrial Estate were Scottish Galvanisers, Lindab and Foster Wheeler Energy.

Realising that alone Donald Murray could not muster the numbers to warrant a mobile service visit, the finance director of Donald Murray Paper Ann McMullan wrote to neighbouring businesses asking for their support.

The letter stated: “At Donald Murray Paper, we are committed to improving our Corporate and Social Responsibility and Blood Donation is an area where we feel we can make a significant difference. We recognise that there is a real willingness to donate blood but work and family commitments can make this difficult. Our plan therefore is to bring the Mobile Service to our workplace to remove some of the obstacles and encourage people to donate.”

The response was tremendous with more than sufficient volunteers to keep the unit busy and the Blood Transfusion Service was delighted with the 55 units supplied on the day.
