Thursday 25. September 2008 - The Dutch supplier of project solutions for the graphic industry Graphic Web Systems B.V. has been contracted by Timbuktu Media of Nigeria for the total organisation and supply of a newspaper printing facility in Lagos, Nigeria.

Early 2007 the first communication about the project started with the management of Timbuktu Media. They intended to set up a first class printing facility capable of producing high quality newspapers according to a very well developed business plan. The new to be launched newspaper has to set a new reference in the Nigerian market. In consultation with Timbuktu Media’s management GWS has developed a plan for a turn-key solution incorporating the consultancy, supply of printing presses, mailroom, prepress equipment up to and including all auxiliary equipment for power supply, compressed air, etc. GWS will act as the main contractor to set up the entire printing facility. This is in line with GWS’ strategy for the future to act as a total supplier to the graphic web offset industry.

The heart of the supply to Timbuktu Media will consist of two MAN Uniset Newspaper presses both equipped with heatset applications for semi-commercial printing. Both press systems are capable of printing 16 pages tabloid in full colour and will be installed in duplex configuration providing the required production flexibility.
Meanwhile, the building activities in Lagos have started and will be ready to receive the press systems early November 2008. The entire printing facilities are expected to be operational during the first quarter of 2009.
