Wood Mitchell selects beta.f filtration as it cuts down on alcohol
Monday 01. September 2008 - Wood Mitchell describes the motivating factor behind its decision to buy a beta.f dampening filtration system from technotrans as primarily economic although the ability to reduce chemistry and waste processing fits neatly with its environmental strategy.
The company is working towards ISO 14001 and is also running its Drupa specification Speedmaster 102-10P featuring the Press Center controls with much reduced alcohol levels.
For this reason Heidelberg recommended the beta.f to Wood Mitchell. “We believe that by keeping the water within the system clean we will remove one of the variables within the printing process and this should lead to an increase in quality,” says Ross Mitchell, chairman.
“The water stays very clean so we spend less time cleaning the tanks and removing all the dirty water and chemicals before refilling with fresh chemicals. This will amount to a significant saving in fount solution and alcohol. There is also a saving in not having to remove the dirty dampening water as special waste.”
Although too early to give first hand experience Wood Mitchell anticipates changing filters no more than about once every six months.
Mr Mitchell describes technotrans as “innovative and helpful” and says the operators have been impressed by beta.f as well as the ground-breaking long perfector.
