DALIM SOFTWARE APPOINTS POSITIVE FOCUS AS DALIM DIALOGUE RESELLER

Friday 29. August 2008 - Dalim Software, the leading developer of innovative and professional workflow solutions, has announced that Positive Focus, the integrator and distributor of workflow systems in Shepperton, UK, is now an approved reseller of DALiM DiALOGUE, the revolutionary online softproofing server application that allows real time, colour accurate, collaborative access to original high resolution data and annotation and comments for online management.

Positive Focus is a leading integrator of design, graphics and prepress solutions with more than 25 years’ experience in production for print, distributing best of breed solutions in the UK and Ireland. Managing director Ivor Dixon says: “Many of our clients are very conscious that in these difficult times, customer service is one of the distinguishing features that separates them from their competitors. DALiM DiALOGUE, by providing a timely and convenient proofing and approval process, strengthens the link with the customer as well as reducing the proofing cycle cost. Softproofing is already proven and accepted by large organisations, and the quality in DALiM DiALOGUE is unquestioned. We look forward to working with Dalim Software to further develop its penetration into the UK market and into Ireland. Our area technical manager, Simon Collins, has worked with Dalim Software products previously, so we have relevant experience to offer new clients.”

Dalim Software’s head of international marketing Bertin Sorgenfrey says: “We are delighted to be working with Positive Focus, and we are confident that its excellent service, contacts and resources will ensure further success for DALiM DiALOGUE.”

Ever shorter production deadlines and downward pressure on prices have challenged the photographic, premedia, publishing and advertising industries to look again at the cost of proofing and approving their products. DALiM DiALOGUE is a standalone system without click charges or monthly subscription fees. You simply pay on the basis of the number of pages that will be open on the system at one time, making real time interactive project collaboration very affordable.
With no client software needed, and no requirement for high bandwidth connections, DALiM DiALOGUE easily bridges the communications gap between imaging professionals and their clients. Any number of concurrent users can be connected, limited only by the processing power of the host server, without any inherent cost implications. In a matter of minutes it is possible to establish watched folders at any point in the workflow, add users and set permissions to allow or deny access to individual tools, features or folders. The folder can be the ‘output’ folder of a third party workflow system, seen by DALiM DiALOGUE over the network, making it easy to develop a powerful, efficient and trusted softproofing solution which can be branded with any corporate image. As soon as files enter a watched folder, they can be accessed by all authorised participants.

DALiM DiALOGUE works by streaming just the right amount of file data required to display at any one time over the internet, eliminating the restriction of a pre-determined file resolution. Both pixel and vector data can be viewed at up to 5 million percent in perfect clarity, for unmatched quality in soft proofing. High resolution files can be viewed in seconds – even over a dial-up connection. DALiM DiALOGUE’s unique data streaming technology ensures that users, wherever they are, view and collaborate on a file in its full, high resolution state, without it ever leaving its source.

DALiM DiALOGUE also features a closed loop calibration system, which is unique in a web-based application without the need for client software. As soon as the client logs into DALiM DiALOGUE, the user will be asked to conduct a quick check of the monitor with a spectrophotometer to confirm that it is within standards. If not, DALiM DiALOGUE will ask the user to calibrate the monitor. Thus, the system is always assured that the user is viewing the page with a valid profile and will make a record that the user calibrated the system properly. If the user declines to calibrate the monitor, the system can be modified to prevent the user from viewing the page, or to allow viewing and approval, but with a note that the person did not use a correct profile. This ensures that a proof is being viewed with required, calibrated profiles and is done automatically without the operator having to install any software.
