Abächerli Druck AG takes a technological leap forward with the new Primera E140
Friday 15. August 2008 - A new saddle stitcher from Muller Martini
From the beginning of November, a new Primera E140 saddle stitcher from Muller Martini with a Perfetto stacker will be helping Abächerli Druck AG in Sarnen in the Canton of Obwalden to shorter set up times and higher net output.
A new offset press printing 15,000 sheets per hour which was put into operation two years ago drove the Presto saddle stitcher to the limits of its performance. As it had been delivering excellent service for 12 years, it wasnt too hard for Abächerli Druck AG to take the decision to replace it. As Muller Martini had proved such a reliable partner for all those years, Abächerli chose another system from the Zofingen-based machine manufacturers.
Ergonomic design and a modern operating system played a crucial role in the decision to buy the new Primera E140, which represents a huge technological leap forward for this traditional company in Obwalden, which was founded in 1886 and employs around 40 people. The new saddle stitcher has a production output of 14,000 cycles per hour and now has a folder feeder in addition to six other feeders. Furthermore, the products are now bundled on a Perfetto Amrys stacker (16,000 cycles per hour). In addition to shorter set up times, this provides higher net output over the whole line which also includes the Asir 3 signature scanning system, the Semko side thickness control system, a three-knife trimmer and a shingle delivery.
The new Primera E140 which is to be put in operation at the beginning of November belongs to the new generation of Muller Martini saddle stitchers and was presented to the public for the first time at drupa 08 in Düsseldorf. The Primera E130 is equipped with the automatic size set-up system, Amrys (Automatic Make Ready System), making it the most highly automated version in the new saddle stitcher family. Feeder, stitching machine, three-knife trimmer and stacker are quickly and automatically set in the desired size and with such a short set-up procedure the system is ready for the new job in next to no time.
