SGIA ’08 Speaker: Digital Finishing Can Transform Companies

Friday 15. August 2008 - Steve Aranoff, MGE Inc., to discuss value & ROI of finishing

Rapid advancements in digital imaging technologies are changing the product landscape for imagers, and driving up the demand and profitability for digital finishing solutions, according to Steve Aranoff, Business Management Developer for SGIA member MGE Inc. (SGIA ’08 Booth 1853).

“Finishing is a necessary capability as the number of jobs printed directly onto rigid materials grows,” said Aranoff, who will lead an educational session, “Contour Cutting Brings Quick ROI (Thursday, October 16; 2:00 pm-3:15 pm), at SGIA ’08 (Atlanta; October 15-18, 2008).

“Since a finishing system typically costs $1,200 to $3,200 per month, and can be valued at more than $100 per hour of use, it’s easy to see why it’s becoming popular,” Aranoff said. “It takes well under one week of use to justify and begin to earn big profits from such a system.”

In addition to providing SGIA ’08 attendees with an overview of the current state of digital finishing technologies, Aranoff will cover the benefits and abilities of these finishing devices, which include contour cutters, as well as their integration in a streamlined workflow.

“Finishing can transform many businesses so much that owners often wonder why they didn’t get into it sooner,” Aranoff said.

For more specialty imagers, finishing options are a big solution in today’s competitive marketplace, said SGIA President/CEO Michael Robertson. “Image quality, which was once the primary competition point, is now a given,” Robertson says. “Leading imaging companies are looking beyond the print to find competitive advantages, and maximizing finishing capabilities to provide distinctive products is one way they’re accomplishing this.”
