Friday 01. August 2008 - Jim Porter, chief engineer and vice president of DuPont Engineering & Operations, has received a technology leadership award that recently was established in his name.

The “James B. Porter, Jr. Technology Leadership Award” was instituted by FIATECH — an industry consortium that provides global leadership in identifying and accelerating the development, demonstration and deployment of fully integrated and automated technologies to deliver the highest business value throughout the life cycle of all types of capital projects.
The award honors and celebrates Jim’s vision, leadership, technical acumen, as well as his commitment to people, advancing the industry and the goals of FIATECH. Jim was instrumental in establishing FIATECH and ensuring its success and has been an unyielding and enthusiastic supporter. Jim also has served as co-chairman of the FIATECH Board of Directors since its inception. In 2008, he served as the chair of the annual conference.
“I was truly surprised and honored to have this award named after me and to be its first recipient,” Jim said. “Being named for such an honor not only recognizes me personally, but also DuPont and the people I’ve worked with over the years.”
“We offer our warmest congratulations to Jim on receiving this award for his technology leadership,” said DuPont Chairman and CEO Chad Holliday. “Jim is known for championing technical and engineering innovation, realizing his vision of a global engineering competency, and dedicating himself to promoting diversity in every organization he has led. He is a true gentleman, an insightful leader, and an astute businessman.”
In future years, the award will be given to deserving individuals who exemplify superior characteristics and are selected by the FIATECH Board of Directors.
