Dan Sherlock Named Baseline StudioSystems President
Wednesday 09. July 2008 - The New York Times announced today that Dan Sherlock has been named president of Baseline StudioSystems, effective July 21st. In his new role, he will be responsible for all aspects of site operations including production, business development, sales and marketing, and management of the editorial team. He will report to Vivian Schiller, senior vice president and general manager, NYTimes.com.
Previously Mr. Sherlock was vice president and general manager of Movies.com, a part of the Walt Disney Internet Group. Movies.com was recently bought by Comcast-owned Fandango.

Mr. Sherlock joined Disney in 1997 as the media company began forming its first team charged with building an online presence for its family-focused brands. Earlier in his tenure at Disney, he also served as vice president of marketing for Disney Online. There he oversaw Disney Onlines marketing efforts, research, media buying and synergistic promotions with other Walt Disney Company entities. Mr. Sherlock also directed marketing and media buying for Disneys Blast, a subscription service which, during his tenure, showed industry-leading growth and was the number one online subscription content site for kids.
Prior to Disney he held prominent positions at US West Communications, Inc., and MCI Telecommunications, Inc. While at US West Communications, Inc., he launched the companys first sales-generating site on the Web. As senior manager of consumer marketing at US West, he was responsible for reaching high usage households and developing promotional relationships with media partners.
Mr. Sherlock earned a Bachelor of Science in systems engineering with a concentration in marketing management at the University of Virginia. He is based in Los Angeles, CA.
Baseline StudioSystems, which was acquired by The New York Times Company in 2006, is a comprehensive online database and research service for information on the film and television industries and a provider of premium film and television data to web publishers. Based in Los Angeles, Baseline serves a subscriber base that includes every major studio, broadcast network, representation firm and media outlet in North America and syndicates data to all of the largest entertainment portals.
