BASF to raise capacity for dimethylaminopropylamine
Friday 04. July 2008 - BASF keeps pace with worldwide growth of its customers
BASF will gradually add 10,000 metric tons to its global annual production capacity for dimethylaminopropylamine (DMAPA) by the end of 2008. The company makes DMAPA at its sites in Ludwigshafen (Germany) and Geismar (USA). Dr. Beate Ehle, President of BASFs Intermediates division, said: “As one of the worlds major DMAPA suppliers we will, as always, keep pace with our customers profitable growth in the future.”
BASF produces the main raw materials required to make DMAPA in-house and thus offers its customers high reliability of supply and consistently high product quality. DMAPA is mostly processed into special surfactants, which are starting materials for personal care products. The effect of DMAPA: these products do not sting or hurt the eyes, make a nice, fine-bubble foam, and are readily compatible with other shampoo additives. DMAPA has recently been introduced to the field of gas-production too: it helps to produce more of that valuable natural resource from gas wells already depleted by conventional means. Further benefit of DMAPA: It is biodegradable.
