International content transformation companys choice: WoodWing
Tuesday 08. July 2008 - Aptara, an international content transformation company that serves the book-publishing industry, recently made the decision to install WoodWings Smart Connection Enterprise. Aptara will be employing the editorial solution to work with clients that include the publishers of textbooks, medical journals, reference books and more.
Based in Falls Church, Va., Aptara (formerly Techbooks) was founded in 1988 to focus on reprinting scientific and technical books and journals. The company expanded its reach to content transformation services for a variety of industries, and in 2007, changed its name to Aptara. The company now has more than 3,700 employees and offices throughout the United States, as well as in Cambridge, England, and Sydney, Australia. Aptara also has ISO 9000-certified production facilities in New Delhi and Puné, India.
“Aptara serves a wide range of customers across the publishing spectrum, so they really needed an editorial system that was versatile enough to handle any size or type of book,” said Brian Kruger, CEO of WoodWing USA. “Smart Connection Enterprises flexible nature was a huge selling point for Aptara.”
No stranger to groundbreaking solutions, Aptara pioneered the technology that allows a user to digitize and repurpose even the most complex mathematical documents and data tables.
“Thats why this is such a good relationship,” Kruger added. “Aptaras technology in data storage and XML tagging techniques is remarkable, and when you couple that with all that Smart Connection Enterprise has to offer, it puts Aptara in a great position to be able to serve their customers.
