The Washington Times: Another Newspaper Chooses PuzzleFlow Automator in the US Market
Monday 30. June 2008 - Once again, Flashlight-Digital, the exclusive distributor of ACCHSHs products in the North American market, is performing another successful implementation of PuzzleFlow Automator, a production automating server devoted to the newspaper industry.
The system has been purchased by the publisher of “The Washington Times” which means a very important step of ACCHSH and Flashlight-Digital to enter the renowned newspaper publishers market.
The Washington Times is a general interest daily newspaper issued since 1982 and published by News World Communications. As the publisher states, it is one of the most-often-quoted American newspapers and has gained its reputation for hard-hitting investigative reporting and thorough coverage of politics and policy. Besides a daily newspaper, News World Communications also publishes the National Weekly Edition of The Washington Times, which includes the week’s best news and commentary from the daily edition.
Since a long time, the newspapers management has been looking for an effective and efficient solution enabling automation of production processes. Their main concern was the eliminating of problems occurring during the processing of ads and pages from external sources. After careful analysis of multiple systems, The Washington Times has chosen PuzzleFlow Automator, a common solution of ACCHSH and Flashlight-Digital companies. Dan Hiniker, Prepress Manager for The Washingtion Times, says: First of all, we wanted a system that could be molded to our needs, not one that required that we change our practices to fit the needs of the software. We have found PuzzleFlow Automator the best solution available which meets all our requirements of capacity, flexibility and robustness needed for our daily operations.
Flashlight-Digital is fully responsible for implementation of PuzzleFlow Automator at The Washington Times, as well as for the post-sales support and service. The company has been chosen due to its long-term experience and reputation at the American market of newspaper publishing houses.
PuzzleFlow Automator brings all functions required by The Washington Times to streamline its production process, based on ad booking and management data. The solution has also provided streamlined processing of tasks that individual operators must perform manually in order to insure the integrity of a file.
Richard Laframboise, VP of Flashlight-Digital, says: The new system automates the creation and delivery of multiple formats now required of each ad and page processed for the cross-media publishing needs of “The Washington Times”. Because of the web interface of the system, it is available to every department of the campus. Due to PuzzleFlow Automators ability to interface to the existing ad booking and ad tracking systems, it provides seamless processing and automated fixing of all common problems.
After receiving a document, the system provides automatic fixing of file problems, document dimensions and color management needs based on the information gathered from the front end MIS systems. Therefore, avoiding costly human hourly time and possible error for all file correction needs. PuzzleFlow Automators ability to be a scriptable and highly flexible PDF processing engine were determining factors in the final decision making process for “The Washington Times” – underlines Richard Laframboise.
Andrzej Czyz, CEO of ACCHSH, adds: The PuzzleFlow Automator implementation at this renowned publishing house is another successful installation of PuzzleFlow-based tools in the US market. Due to its long-term experience in the North American newspaper market, Flashlight-Digital has helped us in creating a professional solution which is successfully competitive against other products devoted for the market of automated PDF document processing, especially in the neuralgic part of ad booking. Our softwares implementation at “The Washington Times” is a very important step in our expansion in the renowned publishers market of the US. Were looking forward to making other successful implementations in the near future; especially when considering the North American market is just opening for automated PDF-based newspaper systems.
