SCREEN CELEBRATES RECORD BREAKING DRUPA
Thursday 19. June 2008 - Best show for UK visitors since 1982
Screen is celebrating the most successful Drupa it has ever experienced with substantial sales of its CTP and Print on Demand technology made to companies around the world. Screen UK experienced particularly strong interest from its UK, Middle East and African markets.
“Drupa was a fantastic opportunity to demonstrate our vision for a digital future in print,” said Brian Filler, Screen UK MD. “We showed the broadest range of digital print technologies for the widest range of applications, spanning labels, transactional, newspapers, commercial and large format. The fact that the busiest areas at Drupa were the digital halls confirmed the direction of the industry. This was the best Drupa for visitors since 1982 with more sales here than ever before.” Screen UK alone recorded sales of £8m.
Screen used the global event to demonstrate its vision for creating a digital future in print with a range of digital print technologies. The company presented high quality digital print solutions in large format, web fed, and sheet-fed systems and the response from visitors to the full range of products was extremely positive. The Truepress Jet SX, which is the world’s first B2 sheet-fed colour inkjet press to print on standard, untreated paper, was unveiled on the first day of the show and attracted huge interest. It will be commercially available in June 2009.
While digital technologies were a major focus for Screen at Drupa, Screen also recorded a record breaking level of CTP sales. Screen is the world’s leading CTP supplier with more than 30% market share. It provides a platesetter to suit all requirements from 4, 8, 16, 24, 36, 80 and 96 page devices, for commercial, newspaper and flexo applications.
“We sold more PlateRite units at Drupa than at any other show,” said Brian Filler. “We experienced unprecedented interest from the Middle East particularly, taking orders for over 30 units ranging from B2 to VLF formats.” Interest in Screen’s digital and DI technology was also strong with companies in Saudi Arabia and UAE buying four Truepress 344 DI offset presses. Plus, orders were taken for three Truepress Jet520 inkjet web-fed print systems.
