Genius 52UV to head from KBA-Metronic to Austria

In addition to the Genius 52UV on the KBA stand there is a plinth-mounted coater version with extended delivery on show at Toray's stand (B35) in hall 3

Wednesday 11. June 2008 - Another sales for KBA-Metronic at Drupa

After nine days of Drupa, Austrian printers have snapped up yet another of KBA-Metronic’s Genius 52UV presses. With the able support of KBA’s Austrian subsidiary, KBA-Mödling, MSSDigitaldruck in Graz will soon realise its dream of converting to waterless, keyless UV technology.

The press specified is a five-colour version that allows the application of a spot colour or a coating. The Genius 52UV has a maximum production speed of 8,000 sheets per hour. The used plates can be ejected and the new ones mounted in a mere five minutes or so, and the press runs up to saleable colour in just a few sheets. So job changes on the Genius 52UV are exceptionally fast.
KBA-Metronic’s keyless UV technology defines the benchmark in quality and cost efficiency when printing sensitive substrates such as film or hard plastic (PVC, PET, PS, ABS). For creative professionals, exploiting to the full the huge range of non-absorbent substrates the press can handle, be it for printing commercials, packaging or labels, represents a real challenge. The demand for plastic films is on the increase, though sensitive paper and board can also be printed on the Genius 52UV. The press incorporates some unique features that allow users to capture new markets by establishing a reputation for creating imaginative products from all kinds of non-absorbent materials.
KBA-Metronic boasts many years of experience in keyless, waterless UV technology. In addition to the Genius 52UV it builds CD-print and Premius presses for printing CDs, DVDs and BDs (Blu-ray discs), and the OC 200 for ISO-standard plastic cards. Its industrial ID system, the Universys, which is also exhibited at the fair, produces personalised cards to ISO standards.
There are two versions of the Genius 52UV at Drupa. A standard five-colour press can be seen in the green printing centre on the KBA stand (B45) in hall 16, while plate manufacturer Toray’s stand (B35) in hall 3 is showing a plinth-mounted Genius 52UV with coater and extended delivery.
