New EFI Fiery Platform Streamlines Adoption of Office Publishing

EFI (Nasdaq:EFII), the world leader in customer-focused digital printing innovation, today launched the most advanced Fiery(R) platform designed for the Xerox(R) WorkCentre(R) 7300 series multifunction printers (MFPs). Driving the WorkCentre 7300 series, the Fiery Network Controller takes the pain out of color publishing in the office environment and allows users to achieve expert results, without expert knowledge.

Designed for multi-user office environments that are color-intensive yet retain needs for volume black and white production, the Fiery for the Xerox WorkCentre 7300 Series provides exceptional color, seamless network integration, and high levels of productivity, flexibility, and security.
Increased Productivity
The Fiery’s powerful Mac Driver provides easy access to repetitive functions, reduces keystrokes, increases efficiency and boosts productivity by flagging users to error conditions and consumables status. The Fiery Bridge feature provides an interactive, direct link to the users’ Fiery Mailbox and can be integrated with the Xerox Scan to PC solution. This color document publishing tool increases productivity through an automated workflow and makes documents stored on the Fiery readily available. Customers can access Fiery documents directly from Windows Explorer or from within any application that can access the Windows Explorer directory structure.
Optional applications available with the Fiery for the Xerox WorkCentre 7300 series, such as EFI Hot Folders and Virtual Printers, further improve automated printing in the repetitive workflows inherent in offices. Users can “drag & drop” files into hot folders that are preconfigured to print the job for pre-defined, guaranteed results, or to virtual printers that simply appear as network printers that are configured for specific tasks.
Brilliant Color, Out of the Box
Fiery color management tools deliver extensive control over color content within a document and enable customers to easily achieve expert results, regardless of their expertise level. Fiery ColorWise(R), the EFI in-RIP color management system, delivers consistent color across applications, computer platforms, color spaces, and color file formats. ColorWise includes automated functionality for managing color, productivity and automating color document workflow.
The optional EFI Impose solution takes document publishing to the next level with professional-level tools. With EFI Impose and the Fiery’s unique Visual Workflow, which provides job progress at-a-glance, users readily accomplish even the most complex document assembly error-free.
Particularly important when matching corporate branding colors is essential, the optional EFI(R) Spot-On guides customers to produce accurate corporate color – the first time, every time.
Enhanced Flexibility
The Fiery for the Xerox WorkCentre 7300 series includes EFI’s innovative design that virtually guarantees easy connectivity and ensures seamless integration in any network environment, including “peer-to-peer” (SMB) support for Windows(R) workstation printing, and LDAP (Lightweight Directory Access Protocol) support for directory or a global address book access. The Fiery is fully compatible with Xerox’s new EIP (Extensible Interface Platform), a technology inside many Xerox MFPs that allows independent software developers to create applications for multifunction systems that simplify document-based work processes and customize the touch screen for personalized workflows for individuals and workgroups. The Fiery also coexists with the WorkCentre’s powerful scanning capabilities and empowers color document printing by giving users complete access to WorkCentre document capture and distribution functions, providing a consistent user interface for all scanning applications.
The Fiery increases the agility with which changing market needs can be addressed. Including Fiery(R) FreeForm, the Fiery provides customers with the variable data printing tools they need to readily deploy targeted campaigns that greatly enhance customer response.
Robust Security
EFI Fiery technology is based on an open architecture and adheres to industry standard certification policies and network authentication protocols. With its extensive security features designed to eliminate its unauthorized access and operation, reducing costs and down time, Fiery servers are readily accepted by even the most critical MIS/IT organizations, including the government and its agencies. Fiery servers incorporate strong security utilities ranging from limiting who has access to the controller – leveraging several industry standard including: Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) and Internet Protocol (IP) Filtering support, Port Blocking, and LDAP Authentication, to securing the data itself – utilizing SNMP V3 (Simple Network Management Protocol, Version 3), SSL (Secure Socket Layer) support, Certificate Management, Encryption of Critical Information, and the Secure Erase feature, which removes all traces of job data from the Fiery hard disk drive.
The Fiery for the Xerox WorkCentre 7300 series also features IPv6 (Internet Protocol Version 6) support and can be readily installed into IPv6 environments. A requirement for Government sites, IPv6 expands on the current Internet Protocol standard, offering better addressing, security and other features to support large worldwide networks.
