NEW COMPRESSIBLE BLANKET FROM HDP
Monday 26. May 2008 - A compressible blanket designed to provide superior ink transfer properties has been introduced by Hydro-Dynamic Products, the West Sussex-based consumables manufacturer.
Called the Merlin, recent developments in the formulation of surface rubber compounds reduces dot gain and enables the ink film thickness between plate and blanket to be much lower. This attribute is particularly valuable when highly pigmented inks such as HDPs Hydro-Star are being used.
The Merlin blanket gives consistent dot gain values at, or below, European standards and dense, even solids on a wide variety of papers. This is made possible by a combination of a thick compressible layer with a micro-ground, high performance compound giving excellent smash resistance and outstanding edge cut resistance.
Good solvent resistance, easy blanket cleaning, as well as reduced ink piling and linting are features provided by the micro-ground top rubber surface with its quick release characteristics.
The Merlin also has a uniquely constructed backing canvas with anti-sinking properties which prevent stretching and delamination.
