American Manufacturer Delivers Your Dollar’s Worth

Wednesday 14. May 2008 - Web Press Corporation, from Kent, Washington, USA, is a "must visit" for single-width press purchasers visiting DRUPA.

WPC’s unique product, the Quad-Stack 4 over 4 color printing unit will be on display in Hall 15, Stand B04-22 (part of the American Pavilion).

The Quad-Stack is a compact (less than 3m high) yet robust 4 color perfecting unit that provides exceptional registration in a standard footprint. UV compatible, the Quad-Stack is the perfect component for single-width one-around newspaper applications and semi-commercial printers. Using servo-driven technology, it can be added to many existing press lines, even those of other manufacturers. With a reel stand and folder, a single unit makes a perfect “insert” press. Full press lines composed of Quad-Stack, single, and two high units can be configured to print a variety of applications.

“Sales of the Quad-Stack have done well in North America, the UK, and several areas of Latin America,” states company president, Mark Ricca. “It’s time for the rest of the world to take advantage of the weak US dollar and participate in the many advantages that our presses have to offer.”

These advantages include a “best in the industry” 4 year warranty on the Quad-Stack 414+4 color units, and WPC Universal Printing Modules (UPM’s) which come in one, two, and three high models with or without integrated roll units.

Due to its very nature, the Quad-Stack, which allows no spacing between perfecting decks, eliminates fan-out and holds registration almost from the start. Customers are experiencing very low make-ready figures, some under 200 copies running multiple units.

“I found the Quad-Stack press to be custom made for my purposes,” states Marco Alvarado, Director of Operations for República Media Group, San Jose, Costa Rica. “I needed something compact, extremely efficient, easy to take care of and affordable. I wanted a real support team behind my back and personalized treatment from the supplier. I got all this in one package. A year after running the
equipment, I reduced the waste about 25%. My make-ready waste is 150 copies average, on two webs in full color.
I’m happy, my commercial printing clients are happy, and my crew is happy. Can’t get any better, can it?”

“The return on investment can be substantial”, comments Ricca. “Wastage can eat a huge chunk out of anyone’s operating budget. Consideration has to be given not only to the paper waste, but also wasted ink, fountain solution, electricity, man hours, and disposal. Money saved in those areas becomes income for the company.”

The Quad-Stack unit will be configured with a UV light system (provided by OnLine Energy) and have several OEM inking system configurations included for comparison including QuikSet, EPG, and Sajo ink levelers.
