CTP - Computer to Plate

Mitsubishi Paper Mills presents new, environmentally-friendly CTP systems at Drupa 2008

Tuesday 13. May 2008 - Small and middle-sized printing houses attach special importance to low energy costs and high eco-friendliness - today and in future.

During Drupa 2008, Mitsubishi Paper presents itself to these companies with outstanding arguments and shows principally the latest envirnonmentally-friendly developments of Computer-to-Plate offset plate materials and fully-automatic imagesetting systems.

Drupa highlight is the presentation of the new, affordable Thermal Digiplate system (TDP) for the lower end segment which is producing printing plates on paper base without any chemistry and washing in the B3 format. The system will be launched into the market in the 4th quarter 2008.

The Silver Digiplate with worldwide more than 10,000 successful Computer-to-Plate installations in the B3 and B2 format, will be demonstrated with the new ECRM DPX 4 Eco imagesetting system and an integrated, environmentally-friendly Eco developing unit. The compact CTP system for the B2 format will be commercially available in the 4th quarter 2008. Eco development means that the chemicals are coated on the plate surface in a thin layer and thus produced environmentally-friendly for the printing process.

The environmentally-friendly polyester CTP printing plate and related imagesetting systems are in the centre of attention at the Mitsubishi Paper booth. Compared to B3 and B2 format aluminum CTP plates and systems, the energy consumption and thus the CO2 emission is much lower than same-format thermal or photopolymer plate systems on aluminum base.

In addition, Mitsubishi Paper Mills will present for the first time the SDP-FRS offset printing plate, an improved and further developed generation of the Silver Digiplate polyester printing plate. The optimized printability of the polyester printing plate is demonstrated live on the Ryobi 784 E printing machine.

The DPX2 and SDP-Eco1630IIIR, two further CTP Polyester imagesetting systems for the B3 format, will be demonstrated “live” at the Mitsubishi booth. All demonstrated CTP systems will be integrated in a workflow with RIP, Proofing, AM/FM screening and other software.

Additionally, Mitsubishi has announced the chemistry-free Polyester printing plate (PDP) for the B3 and B2 format for high-quality printing. This Polymer Digiplate is designed for the CTP imagesetting in violet and infrared systems.
