Trade Secret Printing adds Goss Sunday 2000 press
Monday 12. May 2008 - Toronto trade printer complements sheetfed platform with first web press Goss system features gapless blankets, 57-inch web width and automated workflow technology
Trade Secret Printing has added a Goss Sunday 2000 press system, the first web press for the fast growing trade printing specialist in Toronto, Canada.
The five-unit gapless press with a 57-inch web width was selected to complement the companys full sheetfed press range and add versatile and efficient web offset capacity, according to CEO Dave Harb. “This system offers unique productivity and cost-saving advantages that we will transfer to print buyers to make them more competitive,” he explains.
Trade Secret Printing equipped the 24-page Goss web press with a pinless combination folder as well as a sheeter to produce a full range of commercial and publication products. “The print quality will allow us to shift work between web and sheetfed, and the makeready and waste reduction features will allow us to run jobs with 5,000 or even fewer copies on the web,” according to Harb.
The Sunday 2000 system at Trade Secret Printing includes Autoplate fully automatic plate changing technology and Goss Web Center digital workflow modules, including automated presetting and closed-loop controls. The press is also equipped with a Goss Contiweb CS splicer and Ecocool dryer with integrated chill rolls.
Harb says the expansion into web production is a natural move for the company in order to meet growing demand and to provide customers with more comprehensive options. Trade Secret Printing was founded in 2000 and has grown from eight employees to 75 employees.
“We did our homework and studied press options from several suppliers,” explains Harb. “The Goss International organization and the widespread success of Sunday presses gave us confidence. We also visited several other printers running Sunday 2000 presses. The print quality and the makereadies we saw during demonstrations really convinced us.”
