NEW MARK ANDY 2200 PRESS IS SUCCESSFUL WORLDWIDE

Mark Andy’s new servo driven 2200 now offers film capability

Thursday 10. April 2008 - Redesigned 2200 with servo technology runs unsupported films

Mark Andy, Inc. a world leader in narrow web printing equipment, has seen much success with the completely redesigned model 2200 with servo technology. The company has sold more than 25 new 2200s since the product was launched in late 2007 worldwide. Five been sold in India and Poland, with the remaining presses to be installed in Asia, Western Europe and the Americas. This recent success reinforces the 2200 as the leading narrow web solution for printers and converters.

This new design captures the latest technology in narrow web. Each section of the press is independently servo driven (shaftless) from infeed to rewind, including print and converting stations. With fewer gears involved, both vibration and noise are reduced, as is general wear and tear. Reduced material waste and lower maintenance costs provide a rapid return on investment. Mark Andy’s keen technology behind the servo design guarantees higher print quality, enhanced productivity and increased profitability.

Optional features of the redesigned 2200 include fully automatic register control for higher print quality and remote diagnostics, allowing for direct access to Mark Andy technical support, thereby reducing expensive downtime.

Of particular interest to printers and converters is the 2200’s newfound capability with filmic substrates. With the demand for packaging products printed on unsupported film continuing to drive world markets, the ability to run BOPP down to 25-micron (1 mil) opens a whole new field of applications for converters who are finding profit margins under severe pressure in their traditional self adhesive label markets.

“The 2200 offers customers improved quality and increased productivity across a variety of applications, further enhancing our extensive and unique range of flexo presses,” said Jeff Feltz, director of product development, Mark Andy, Inc. “The positive response from converters has been overwhelming.”

The updated 2200 series is available with 254 mm (10″), 330 mm (13″), or 532 mm (17″) web widths, and has a top speed of 230 m/min (750 ft/min). In addition to its UV capability it may also be specified for water based inks, with screen printing and hot or cold foil also available as options. In addition, the 2200’s film capability may be retrofitted at any time, making it an affordable press to grow with the business.
